Damaged equipment after a power surge?
May 16, 2019
If you have electrical equipment that you believe was damaged after the power surge on May 16th, here are the steps you can take:
- Make a list of items you believe were affected with a description of the damage. Include any costs incurred through a licensed electrical contractor.
 - Send us this list in an e-mail to HHHclaim@travelers.com with your name, address, daytime phone number and e-mail address
 - We will submit your claim to our insurance company for consideration
 - Alternatively, you can submit a claim to your own insurance company

If you saw sparks or smelled smoke, we recommend that you contact a licensed electrician to check for any damage to your home. You can find one here: https://findacontractor.esasafe.com/
As indicated in the notice posted to our website from the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), we recommend that you test all life-saving equipment in your home: smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) and Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters (AFCIs).
